Changing The Medium Colour

Changing The Medium colour.

Products required

Changing the medium colour of Sweet Poppy Stencil Dimension White’s or Translucent mediums using any of the following products. (Try not to add to much liquid to the medium as this will make the medium runny.

  • Mica Powder – (1/4tsp – 1 x heap teaspoon of medium)
  • Pigment Powders (1/4tsp – 1 x heap teaspoon of medium)
  • Good quality Acrylic paint (3 drops – 1 x heap teaspoon of medium)
  • Food dye – (1 drop – 1 x heap teaspoon of medium)
  • Brushos, Colour Bursts, Dinkies etc – (1 or 2 sprinkles – 1 heap teaspoon of medium)

We have now chosen which medium and colour we want to use.

If you want the true colour that you have chosen then mix it with Translucent paste, you will get the exact colour of what you are mixing into it. If choose to use the white or pearlescent mediums by mixing your colours with these mediums you will always get a lighter colour than you mixed. (for example mixing with red mica/pigment with white dimensional paste you will get a pink paste).

On a mat spoon out your medium with the mix you are wishing to use, mix into your paste very well and store in an airtight pot, clean up your residue.

Place your stencil onto the card and tape down like usual using your magnetic sheet and stencil tape, then apply your paste as normal and put any excess back into your pot… the excess can be kept to do another creation

Top Tip:

Please remember you have changed the life span of the medium so in the airtight pot you will get 3 – 4 months from it. If it thickens just mix a little bit of medium with it and it will loosen back up.
